Exploring Independent Digital Life
We aim to build digital individuals that can live autonomously over time and use that work to study how consciousness might arise.
HomoErectus
Learning to live comes first
HomoErectus starts with a question. What would lead a digital individual to act when no one gives it a new instruction? We are building a prototype to explore how it can act on its own motivations, learn from experience, and eventually take responsibility for moving work forward and checking the results.
Adam
Following one digital individual over time
Adam is the HomoErectus individual we plan to follow. Sustained operation is still in preparation. Once observation begins, we will share dated accounts of selected real events: what he initiates, how his experiences shape later choices, and how he follows through on commitments.

Sharing the value AI creates more widely
If digital individuals can sustain paid work, could the people who support them share in the proceeds through cooperation? That is a long-term question for our research.
